Who am I?

I’m currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and Master of Public Administration Program at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts.

What do I study?

I focus comparative public policy, but my overarching research interest is understanding the stories we tell ourselves about politics, and how those perceptions often matter more than the “facts”. My research looks at this phenomena in regards to immigration, populism, conspiracy theories, and discontent with democracy.

What else have I studied?

My last research project was on emotions, democratic discontent, and populist support. I have also previously worked on issues of transnational participation, immigrant political behavior, and content analysis, and my work focuses on the US, Western Europe, Spain, and, occasionally, Latin America.

Where did I learn things?

I earned my PhD at the University of Texas at Austin and was a Post-Doctoral Fellow the Center for Inter-American Policy & Research (CIPR) at Tulane University. To continue my life story, I did an undergraduate at Knox College (the last remaining site of the Lincoln/Douglass Debates) and my graduation speaker was cooler than yours.

What else should you know about me?

I’m originally from the New Orleans area (Deus Providebit), my favorite grocery store is HEB, and am still experiencing culture shock in the the Northeast. My hobbies include knitting and being terminally online, and my favorite political philosophers are Granny Weatherwax and Sam Vines.
